Attention all South Middle School Parents and Guardians: Locker pick up is TODAY at the South Middle School from 7am-3pm. After cleaning out lockers yesterday, there were only one or two students without something to pick up, so expect that your student has a bag to pick up. All items MUST be picked up by 3pm today. On Wednesday, April 1st (tomorrow), the Harrisburg School District will be distributing a box of nonperishable dry goods, from Feeding South Dakota, to any family that wishes to pick one up. The boxes will be handed out from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, or until they run out, at the school locations that are also handing out grab-n-go meals. These boxes will be picked up from the back of the buildings at the entrances to the kitchens. Boxes cannot be picked where the grab-n-go meals are handed out. We will have signs on the doors indicated which door to go. Only one box is allowed per family. • North Middle School - the door is in front of the long-sloped dock. • Liberty - the rear of the building is located along Willow Street, with the entrance in the recessed part of the building. • Freedom - look for the door near the red dumpsters • Explorer - look for the door near the red dumpsters • Journey - look for the door near the red dumpsters • Horizon - the rear of the building is located off E. Brewster Street, look for the door near the red dumpsters.

The Child Nutrition Department is excited to announce that starting TOMORROW we will be offering curbside pick-up of the grab-n-go meals.  You can just pull up to the curb by the building entrance, let the staff know how many meals you need, and we will bring them out to you. Also starting tomorrow there will be some rule and regulation changes that will make the program more accessible to families. • Any child between the ages of 0 to 18 is now eligible to pick up meals. • The child does not need to attend the Harrisburg School District to be eligible to pick up meals. • The child does not need to be present to pick up a meal. This meal program is for the benefit of the children in and around the Harrisburg School District.  Meals that are taken are to be consumed by the children in the household.  Do not ask for meals that are intended to be eaten by adults.

⏰ Grab & Go Breakfast & Lunches All Week 11 AM - 1 PM

The Governor has requested schools to remain closed through May 1st.  The Harrisburg School District will comply with this request. Distance learning will begin Wednesday, March 25th and continue through May 1st. We are excited to announce that three additional Grab & Go meal sites will be opening on Thursday, March 26th!  Meals can now be picked up from Liberty, Freedom, Explorer, North MS, Journey and Horizon.   Pick up times will continue to be from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM and will be open Monday through Friday.

🚩 The Harrisburg School District will remain closed, at a minimum, until Tuesday, April 14, 2020.  Distance Learning, beginning Wednesday, March 25, will continue through Thursday, April 9, 2020.  Per the District Calendar, Friday, April 10 and Monday, April 13 are scheduled days off for Easter break.  Should the Governor recommend a longer closure, Harrisburg School District will follow as recommended. 🐾 🚩We ask all to continue to practice social distancing.  Health professionals believe we will be at greatest risk for community spread of the virus in the coming days.  The following link provides information regarding the virus and its impact on children. https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prepare/children.html
