patriot pen winner

Established in 1947, the VFW Patriots Pen written essay program provides middle school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed essay by drafting a 300-400 word essay. Each year, nearly 68,800 6-8 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of $1.4 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The first-place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins a minimum scholarship of $500 and the national first place winner wins $5,000.

The theme for 2021-2022 was "How Can I Be a Good American?" The Harrisburg School District and South Middle School are proud to announce Regina Stoeser took 10th Place nationally in the VFW Patriot’s Pen Essay Competition. Regina won the Grace Minnix Memorial Award for $1,250. We are #TigerProud of her accomplishment!
