patriot pen winner

Established in 1947, the VFW Patriots Pen written essay program provides middle school students with the unique opportunity to express themselves in regards to a democratic and patriotic-themed essay by drafting a 300-400 word essay. Each year, nearly 68,800 6-8 grade students from across the country enter to win their share of $1.4 million in educational scholarships and incentives awarded through the program. The first-place winner from each VFW Department (state) wins a minimum scholarship of $500 and the national first place winner wins $5,000.

The theme for 2021-2022 was "How Can I Be a Good American?" The Harrisburg School District and South Middle School are proud to announce Regina Stoeser took 10th Place nationally in the VFW Patriotโ€™s Pen Essay Competition. Regina won the Grace Minnix Memorial Award for $1,250. We are #TigerProud of her accomplishment!
