HARRISBURG, SD, October 22, 2019– Like many districts around the country, the Harrisburg School District has seen an increase in vaping incidents in recent years. To help parents and community members understand the dangers of vaping to youth, the district will bring in Detective Collin Smith of the Spearfish Police Department, one of the state’s leading experts on the topic of teen vaping. The district will also have a physician from Sanford on hand to speak to what health officials are seeing in their clinics.
The first presentation will be for staff members from 4-5pm in the North Middle School gymnasium on Tuesday, October 29th. From 7-8pm, community members and parents are invited to attend in the North Middle School Performing Arts Center.
The following day, both middle schools and the high school will have assemblies on the subject.
We invite you to join us as we work to bring awareness to this increasingly prevalent issue.
