This young man was selected for our #goodnewscalloftheday. He attended the Journey art show last night and the look of accomplishment that he had when taking pictures with his framed art was something that had to be celebrated. The night was full of learners showing off their musical and artistic talents, which builds pride in their work and self esteem. Awesome see this event put together for our learners.
This young lady was nominated by Mrs. Feeldy for the #goodnewscalloftheday. She continues to work hard and strive for accuracy throughout all of her middles measurement topics. It is a pleasure to work with a young lady who is self-determined to do her best on a daily basis. Her mom was able to receive the good news in the hallway with her this afternoon.
⚠️ We are hearing that the roads in the country are in tough shape, with water going over some of them. This may be a good day for you to consider alternate options of the best way for you to get your children home if you live outside of town. Our buses will travel where possible, but with conditions changing constantly, we cannot guarantee we will get down each road. Please consider your best options under the circumstances.

I was very impressed with this young lady being able to communicate to Mr. Lape where she is at in her learning. Her ability to articulate what her weekly learning goals are and what she has accomplished in her learning was a great example of a learner-led conference. Her mom was excited to receive the #goodnewscalloftheday.

The staff has noticed this young man having an amazing week. It was reported that he has been very helpful for the substitute, he went out of his way to cheer someone up at recess, and has reached his academic goals for himself this week. His great week was the #goodnewscalloftheday. I loved his comment in my office today “It just feels great to help others and accomplish my goals!” #proudprincipal
Learners in studio Parmenter have been introduced how to locate 6 types of ‘signposts’ within text. These signposts allow our learners to explore the text by finding evidence to support their interpretations and continue to develop their critical thinking skills! It allows them to become responsive, rigorous and independent thinkers and readers! The learners used sticky notes to make their sign posts. #engagedreaders

This young lady was nominated for the #goodnewscalloftheday by Mrs. Jensen. She went out of her way to help another learner count out manipulatives when she noticed them start to get frustrated. Her kindness and ability to be a good friend is something that helps her be a peer leader in our building.

Mrs. Parmenter nominated this young lady for the #goodnewscalloftheday. She continues to persist in her learning, help others around her, and is always remaining open to continuous learning! She takes feedback in a positive light, and has really shown how strong of a leader she can be for the learners in our Math, Writing and Reading studio times. She continues to be a positive role model for all learners around her.
Ms. Weber nominated this young lady for the #goodnewscalloftheday for her continuously going out of her way to help others and think of her friends in her room before herself. She gave me two compliments in the short time I walked her down to my office. What a privilege it is to have this young lady at Journey Elementary.

This young lady did an awesome job yesterday and was our #goodnewscalloftheday. She had a few firsts working with the 90 learners in her cohort during morning meeting. She took a responsible risk and raised her hand to give another learner a shout out and she stood up in front of everyone when another learner gave her a shout out. It has been great to see her confidence continued to grow in #personalizedlearning #greatjob
